An electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) test has been carried out on the molecular aspects of pathogenetical differences of the respiratory distress and respiratory failure. It has been stated that in the course of respiratory distress in children's organism there occurs insignificant intensification of processes of peroxidation of lipids. With the development of respiratory failure formation of generators of active oxygen - Mn2+ ions and ksantinoxidase - increases sharply, this assists to the activation of membrane structures injury, hemolisis of erythrocytes and reduction of antioxidant potential of organism.
