Peculiarities of Epileptic Seizure as Early Symptom of Cerebrovascular Disease in Refugees from Abkhazia

The aim of our study was to evaluate the peculiarities of epileptic seizure as early manifestation of cerebrovascular disease in refugees. 2210 refugees were evaluated in Tbilisi State Medical University Central clinical Hospital Neurology Department, and Outpatient Department. Man - 965 (43,6%), Woman - 1245 (56,4%). We revealed early symptoms of cerebrovascular disease in 440 cases among 2210 refugees based on anamnetic questionnaires. 46 patients had 2 or less epileptic seizures in the last 1year period. Among them 38 patients revealed early symptoms of cerebrovascular disease such are: headache, loudness in the head, weakness, dizziness, and sleep disturbances. In the remained 8 patients brain tumor occurred in 2 cases, traumatic epilepsy in 4 cases, polietiological factors -1case and central nervous system infections -1 case. Simple partial seizure was revealed in 18 patients, complex partial seizure-in15 cases, and complex partial seizures with secondary generalization-in 5 cases, among which 2 patients developed ischemic stroke in 2 weeks. Among the 440 cases with early symptoms of cerebrovascular diseases, 30 patients (older 40 years) were chosen which did not have epileptic seizures in anamnesis. The data of E.E.G. examination in this group of patients showed and B-rhythms, diffusive increasement of slow-wave activity. This indicates on the similar changes in E.E.G. features in the patients with and without epileptic seizures as well. Most of the patients (№38) were of young age (№16). 5 patients were from 40 up to 49 years old and 11patients from 50 up to 59 years old. Using specific questionnaires revealed chronic psycho emotional stress that was connected with the military actions and concomitant critical situations also with severe social conditions.
