The results of US-guided percutaneous ethanol injection therapy for hepatic tumors at 46 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and with metastatic defeat of a liver are presented in the article (32 with hepatocellular cancer and 14 with secondary lesion of a liver). The indications and contraindications preparation of patients, technical aspects, efficacy and complications of PEIT is discussed in the review. In summary it is possible to note, that percutaneous ethanol ablation therapy is a valuable new treatment for inoperable malignant hepatic tumors and can be used with curative and palliative intent. Both the short-term and long-term efficacy of this technique has been demonstrated. PEIT seems to be valuable and could even be an alternative to surgery. The percent of a survival rate in 1 year was observed in 93 %, in 2 years in 77 %, and through 3 - 64 %. Summary level of quality of life is approached to maximal index.
